Toronto's David Empringham is a former top rated open wheel racing star who has enjoyed a series of championship successes.

After racing saloon cars in Canada, David made his Formula Atlantic debut in 1991 and went on to finish 5th the following year in the championship chase.

For the following two years, Empringham was the man to catch as the Canadian took two successive Formula Atlantic championships. He backed that up in 1996 by winning the Indy Lights title with Forsythe racing. He contested the Indy Lights series the following year, finishing 4th in the championship.

Empringham and Scott Maxwell teamed up in 2002 to win the Grand-Am Cup Championship with a Multimatic Motorsports run Porsche GTS. The duo then took the first ever Daytona Prototype victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona with David Brabham joining the line-up.

Outside of the cockpit, Empringham's experience and knowledge are in high demand as a driver coach for many young stars including Ryan Dalziel.
