Mike Rockenfeller

He might be making his Ford debut in 2024 but Mike “Rocky” Rockenfeller needs little introduction. Two-time Le Mans winner, Nürburgring 24 Hour winner, Le Mans Series Champion, Porsche Carrera Cup Champion and DTM Champion, this German driver knows how to get the job done.

Like many of his peers, Rocky started out in go-karts where he earned his share of silverware, moving briefly into single-seater racing before landing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. It didn’t take long for him to showcase his remarkable talent and he duly took the Championship win in 2004.

In 2005, he claimed victory in the GT2 class of the FIA GT Championship and triumphed in GT2 at both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Spa. His success continued with a win at the 2006 Nürburgring 24 Hours.

A move to Audi Sport in 2007 was the start of an incredible run for the young German, which saw him competing for outright wins at Le Mans and in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) series. His determination was rewarded in 2008 when he became Le Mans Series Champion (LMP1) and again in 2013 when he was crowned DTM Champion.

In 2010 Rocky scored two massive endurance wins, first at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, then later that year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, marking his card as one of the best endurance racers in the world.

Rocky is a familiar sight in the IMSA paddock and makes no secret of his passion for US racing. Most recently he has raced a Porsche 963 in the GTP class for JDC-Miller Motorsports.

In 2023 he was part of the historic NASCAR Garage 56 campaign at Le Mans, racing alongside Jenson Button and Jimmie Johnson, sharing the sights and sounds of NASCAR with race fans from around the world.Off the track, Rocky lives in Landschlacht, Switzerland, with his wife and children. He is a skilled mechanic so, if he manages to get any spare time, he likes to spend it working in old cars in his garage.
