The first season of Sports Car Championship Canada (SCCC) got underway at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) on June 19th and Multimatic Motorsports started strong with two race victories for Marco Signoretti in the #22 Ford Mustang GT4.

Signoretti got proceedings off to a strong start by qualifying the Mustang on pole position for each of the two, 40-minute races. This was his first time at CTMP in the Mustang GT4 but the team’s depth of knowledge of the car helped to fast track Marco towards an early strong pace, fast enough to post a new lap record for a GT4 car at CTMP during free practice!

The first ever SCCC race had more than its fair share of full course cautions with almost half the race being run under yellow. This gave Marco the opportunity to learn how to switch his tyres on at the restarts and hustle the car until the grip returned. Once the race went green for the final time he was able to quickly settle into a rhythm and take the Mustang to the finish line in first place.

Race 2 was a faster affair with a full 40 minutes of green flag racing. Marco ran a strong, consistent race to pull out a good lead and ultimately the second win of the weekend.

“It felt great to get my first win with Multimatic Motorsports,” said Signoretti. “This is really good experience for me, working with such a professional team and driving a fantastic GT4 car. The high speed, high commitment nature of this track was great for my confidence and it has massively improved my comfort level. I am thankful to everyone involved in giving me this special opportunity.”

Larry Holt, Executive Vice President – Multimatic Special Vehicle Operations, said: “A great weekend for Multimatic Motorsports at our home track in the opening races of the Sports Car Championship Canada.  We are fully committed to the FEL series and the concept of being able to race in Canada with the GT4 Mustang.  The performance balancing is pretty close between the two classes and the touring cars were nipping at Marco’s heels, especially during the restarts; they turn the tyres on instantly and the Mustang takes a lap or two.  We have finally got Marco into a car for a full season and he proved that our confidence in his ability is fully justified, we now have another lap record for Ford Performance and the GT4 Mustang, what a fantastic marker he has laid down for the rest of the season.  More to come, of that I’m sure.”
